One of the more exciting new horror franchises to come out within the last decade started with The Collector in 2009. The film did well enough for a sequel titled The Collection in 2012, and after much waiting, a third film is finally preparing for production – The Collected. It’s already been announced that previous cast members Josh Stewart and Emma Fitzpatrick would be returning. But now it looks like horror icon Tom Atkins could be appearing in the third film – and in a leading role!
According to Bloody-Disgusting, who got the scoop, “all he’s got when he faces The Collector is his mouth.” If that’s not enough to get any fan of Tom Atkins excited for a leading role in such a cool franchise, I don’t know what is. He has a way of delivering lines and dialogue that only few actors ever get a chance to do. So no doubt his appearance will give some much-appreciated depth to the film franchise’s cast of characters.
Here’s what we were previously promised:
“The Collected is going to triple down on the grit and suspense we had in the first Collector.”
If these updates on The Collected continue to sound so great, it’s no doubt going to live up to the suspense and action of the original film – but potentially surpass it as well. Of course, we still don’t know yet what the exact plot will be – but it’s no doubt going to be a solid one.
Writing duo Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton returned to write the script, while Dunstan will once again reprise directing duties.
The Collected is aiming for a production shoot date this Fall.
