Thank the maker! There is some news coming out regarding Star Wars and it has nothing to do with the toxic fandom that plagues the franchise. There haven’t been a whole of reports coming out about what’s expected of the Star War franchise for a good while. However, that might change since the news has dropped that actor Ewan McGregor is in talks to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Though the idea of the actor coming back to the Star Wars universe has not been finalized, it sure is something to looking forward to if or when it does.
The actor did a very impressive performance in George Lucas’s prequels and some have said that it might be the only good thing to come out of those movies. Ewan McGregor has been rumored for years to return to the role and even at one point was expected to have his own movie when Disney purchased the franchise from Lucas.
Reported from Deadline, the site states, “Details about the series following the Jedi master are being kept under wraps.”
They also go on to say that “Plans to produce a stand-alone Kenobi feature film morphed into the current plan for a big-budget series for Disney+, just as the discussion of a Boba Fett film gave way to the similarly spirited The Mandalorian series.”
It makes sense that the House of Mouse might bring the character to series since Disney now has a platform to showcase their programs. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is due out at the end of the year and CEO Bob Iger has stated that the Star Wars franchise might be taking a small break from the theater.
Hopefully, more news of this series is right around the corner.
