Now that Avengers: Endgame has completed its massive theatrical run and the home video releases are being promoted, Marvel has released some really cool bonus material that’s being included with the film. One newly released deleted scene is quite an emotional sequence for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it has to do with Tony Stark’s heroic sacrifice.
As we all know, Tony Stark in the film manages to overcome Thanos and steal the Infinity Stones for his own personal gauntlet. Stark then uses the Infinity Stones to snap away Thanos and his army, finally putting his evil tyranny to rest but also sacrificing himself in the process. As Stark dies, the deleted scene reveals that his surrounding hero peers all immediately pay their respects.
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is the first to do so, kneeling down in a gesture of respect that’s repeated by the rest of the heroes. As the characters pay tribute to Tony Stark aka Iron Man, this version of Gamora manages to sneak away given that she has no attachments to Tony Stark or his alter ego.

It’s definitely an interesting moment that would’ve made a cool addition to Avengers: Endgame despite its lengthy runtime. Aside from some digital effects that need polishing, an obvious side effect of being a deleted scene, it’s a nice moment that really immerses the viewer in Tony’s sacrifice and how much it meant to his fellow heroes. Of course, the finished film still does just as well with the sequence as is.
The digital release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame will be released on July 30, 2019. Meanwhile the physical Blu-ray and DVD release will be on August 13.
