There are so many storylines, characters, and worlds that Marvel Studios can pull from the entertainment company’s comic book archive. The end of Avengers: Endgame has allowed the MCU to really explore what there is out there waiting for audience members and fans to see. With the events of Captain Marvel set in celluloid stone, the introduction of the Skrulls will allow Marvel Studios to start digging into the long history of the comic book baddies. The future of the MCU might not be too far off from showing what dangers awaits our heroes in Phase 4.
Rumor around the internet campfire has been flying that a couple of MCU characters are about to reveal their secret soon.
For those that didn’t watch Captain Marvel or doesn’t read Marvel Comic, the Skrulls are a race of shape-shifting aliens that have been battling their rivals, the Kree Empire. Earth has been caught in the middle of the everlasting war with many of Marvel superheroes having been abducted and swapped out by the Skrulls.
The site We Got This Covered has confirmed (through a source close to the site) that two characters in the MCU are not who they say they are. That they may, in fact, be (dramatic pause) Skrulls. This is a huge deal because there are so many people that it could be. With a couple of heroes’ dead or retired for good, there is still a lengthy list on who could be working against the protagonists of the MCU.
The source or sources from the depths of Reddit are saying that the reveal might happen in Spider-Man: Far From Home and that it might be—
SPOILER WARNING
Nick Fury and Maria Hill. The agents of S.H.E.I.L.D have been secreted enough that there is a possibility but it’s highly unlikely. S.H.E.I.L.D has already been revealed to be infiltrated by HYDRA in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The idea of this super badass organization being taking over again from another foreign power is lazy creative writing at best. The Nick Fury in Captain Marvel is aware of the Skrulls and how they can be a serious threat by the actions of Talos played by Ben Mendelsohn.
“Grain of salt” is the key phrase here.
We’ll just have to see if this rumor and others about Spider-Man: Far From Home will come to fruition. Until then, check back here at ScreenGeek.net for all your needs about the film world.
