The current two installments of the Jurassic World trilogy have done a decent job at reviving what was once considered to be a dead franchise. People laughed at the thought of Jurassic Park 4 ever becoming a reality, and now we’re already seeing steady development on a Jurassic Park 6 otherwise known as Jurassic World 3. How times have changed.
While the Jurassic Park franchise continues to expand and flourish with these new Jurassic World films, there are a few issues fans have had with the series. Although the new movies remain connected with the original three installments, they seem to prefer neglecting many of the older, fan-favorite characters. Jurassic World had an entirely new cast while Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom managed to bring back one returning cast member – iconic actor Jeff Goldblum – as the beloved and eccentric Ian Malcom.
Although it was rumored that Sam Neil’s Dr. Alan Grant would also make a return, it unfortunately turned out to be untrue. And while there’s still a possibility that he’ll show up in the next Jurassic World film, fans have had another familiar cast member in mind to make an appearance – actress Laura Dern.
And, it turns out, she’s open to returning! Here’s what she said during an interview with ET:
“I don’t know, I have no idea actually,” Dern responded when asked about rumors of a possible cameo. “I mean, I love Dr. Ellie Satler so I could never say no to that on any level,” she admitted. “But I really don’t know, I don’t even know what they’re cooking up yet.”
While there’s nothing yet confirmed, it does make for a fun possibility! If they were going to include Jeff Goldblum in the last film, it’s likely they’ll bring back someone else if not several other new characters this next time around – I’m all for it!
