There’s been a lot of hype surrounding the history of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy lately. This is not only due to Netflix’s successful documentary series “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes” directed by Joe Berlinger, but also Berlinger’s upcoming film on the subject. His movie, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, is taking a unique twist from past Bundy flicks by casting former Disney star Zac Efron in the role of Bundy. As these risky choices with movies would sometimes have it, Efron looks like he’s doing a perfect job at taking on the role of Ted Bundy.
As you can see in the new clip below, it’s a truly shocking performance.

It looks like Bundy is up to his psychopathic and manipulative tendencies, suggesting that he’s actually innocent and being framed for the crimes. It’s an effective scene considering Efron is almost unrecognizable and gives a performance that is eerily and appropriately reminiscent of Bundy – something that should make the film a must-watch for those interested in true crime. Joe Berlinger really has made a great companion piece to his previous Netflix documentary on Bundy.
In Joe Berlinger’s film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile…
“A chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy, from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who refused to believe the truth about him for years.”
Joe Berlinger directs the film, which was written by Michael Werwie. The feature film also stars Lily Collins, Angela Sarafyan, and Metallica’s own James Hetfield alongside Zac Efron.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will premiere both on Netflix and in limited theaters sometime later this year. The film was also given a confirmed R-Rating for “disturbing/violent content, some sexuality, nudity, and language.” Yeah, it’s definitely not going to take the story of Ted Bundy lightly.
