Crossover events are fairly commonplace in comic books. Mostly, they happen within a single publishing company’s universe, but sometimes we’re treated to dream crossovers with characters from different publishers. Case in point, the fantastic crossovers of Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This pairing has happened a few times, with different versions of each character, giving fans some unique stories. Now, it looks like the highly successful DC Comics Animation people have decided to bring this quirky team up to life in Batman vs. the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This Direct-to-DVD movie will focus on the first crossover of the Dark Knight and the Heroes in a Half-Shell. Published in 2015, a ‘transdimensional encounter’ will bring the heroes together and set them against the Caped Crusader’s Rogues Gallery. And, while this crossover being brought to the small screen is pretty interesting enough, it also offers a unique moment in voice casting. Troy Baker will be voicing both Batman and the Joker, marking the first time someone has voiced the arch-nemeses on the same film (Baker has voiced both characters before, but on different movies). Troy will have an all-star voice cast with him.
Darren Criss (Glee) will play Raphael, Kyle Mooney (SNL) as Michelangelo, Baron Vaughn (Grace & Frankie) as Donatello, Eric Bauza (Splinter on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Leonardo, Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Batgirl, the legendary Tom Kenny as Penguin, prolific voice actor John DiMaggio as Mr. Freeze, fan favorite Tara Strong as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Carlos Alazraqui as Bane, and Cas Anvar as Ra’s al Ghul. There is no mention yet of Shredder or Robin, but they may still be in the film.
The comic book saw Shredder team up with Ra’s al Ghul, but Shredder could be saved for a sequel. DC Animation has done extremely well with all of their films, so there are high hopes that this will be another successful movie. It should be released sometime this Spring, so keep your eyes peeled!
