Quite possibly the worst kept MCU secret would be that Chris Evans will be done playing Captain America after Avengers: Endgame. Well, it honestly isn’t even a secret, as he said this will be his last time playing the character, and he will miss doing so. That doesn’t, however, mean that he’s done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If a new rumor is to be believed, he will stick around for quite some time.
For context, Chris Evans tweeted:
“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

And back in November, Joe Russo was quoted as saying:
“I think it was more emotional for [Evans] than us because he’s not done yet. And I won’t explain what that means, but audiences will soon understand what I’m talking about.”
Now, the latest rumor comes from 4Chan (yes, 4Chan, but it adds up, doesn’t it?):
Chris Evans is done with Captain America, but he’s not done with Marvel. Rumor has it that they’re looking at him to direct stuff, most likely some Disney+ episodes (which fits with Joe Russo teasing Evans isn’t done with Marvel).
It’s not really much of a surprise and doesn’t take a math wizard to add all of this stuff up. If Evans is directing future MCU movies, it’ll be interesting to see how he does. Until the release of Avengers: Endgame, however, we can only speculate what the future of Captain America holds.
