As we reach the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3, Phase 4 is already in full swing. Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out this June, officially kicking it off, as well as the confirmed projects of sequels to Dr. Strange and Black Panther, as well as new properties like The Eternals. There is also going to be a solo film for an established Avenger and fan favorite character. We are of course talking about Black Widow. Now, thanks to a recent report, we know when filming will begin.
According to Omega Underground over at TheGWW.com, Scarlett Johansson and director Cate Shortland are set to begin production on February 28th, and run through March. The movie will be filmed in Miami and Croatia. No more details are available, which is not surprising, considering the CIA type level of secrecy that Disney and Marvel Studios employs with all of their films.
Marvel has stated that they’re expecting to have more than 50% of their heroes as female, and this film would be the second female led film in the MCU, behind Captain Marvel. There is also the rumor that this may be Marvel’s first R-Rated film, but we have no real evidence to back that up.
Regardless of the details, this film is one that fans have been clamoring for ever since the character debuted in Iron Man 2. Black Widow has played a very important part of the entire MCU, involved in nearly every aspect of the events that have unfolded thus far. Hopefully, we’ll get some BTS photos once filming begins.
