The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here, as the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer just dropped. It most certainly gave the fans what they wanted, through the various clips of Peter’s travel around Europe, including the first look at Jake Gyllenhaal playing Mysterio. The fans first discovered that Mysterio was making an appearance in Far From Home to help our beloved Spider-Man defeat uprising villain Hydro-Man, but we cannot rule out the fact that Mysterio may turn rogue.
In the trailer, Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) makes a dramatic appearance surrounded within a cloud of green smoke. From this smoke, he steps forwards revealing an almost Thor-like outfit. As Tony Stark would say: “Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?” He then proceeds to talk to someone who we cannot see saying that he “doesn’t want any part of this”. We can only assume that he is talking to Peter (Tom Holland) at this point about defeating Hydro-Man and travelling around Europe attacking Elementals.
After this comment, he goes on to fight a water-based villain, that the fans can now assume is Hydro-Man following the old reports of Hydro-man being in Far From Home when Holland accidentally shared a video on set with large amounts of water being thrown in the background. As he goes about battling this villain, we also catch a glimpse of Mysterio’s iconic fishbowl helmet.

Why Mysterio is here and whether he will work with Peter is still quite unknown as the first trailer does not show them interacting with each other. Despite this, last month Tom and Jake concluded that their relationship will be a bumpy ride. However, there are significant parts where they will act like “brothers in arms”, says Tom Holland. As for why Mysterio is here, all we can do is piece things together. Nick Fury pops up in the trailer unexpectedly, perhaps he sent Mysterio to help Spidey?
Overall, the trailer brings a sense of excitement and anxiety among the many fans. Hopefully, some questions will be answered when we next see Peter Parker in Avengers: Endgame (released on April 26th). But we know for certain that all will be answered when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits cinemas on July 5th, 2019.
