Horror films oddly enough are often drawn from real-life experiences that had bizarre supernatural results. The latest byproduct of that is a upcoming horror release based upon the “Russian Sleep Experiment“, which took place in the 1940s with a group of people staying up for 30 days consecutively. Now a film is being made upon this subject with the Soviet Sleep Experiment.
Set to be directed by Barry Andersson, the newly-titled Soviet Sleep Experiment could be one of the more engaging horror release of 2019. Here is what the film’s press contact told BloodyDisgusting to summarize the film:
“Andersson has pulled together an ensemble cast of international actors to tell this suspenseful story of a married research team who, under close watch of the Red Army, set out to study the effects of forced sleep deprivation on four patients locked inside an observation chamber for 30 days.”
The film, which stars the likes of Eva De Dominici, Michael Villar (Sleight), and Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live) has not had an official trailer or release date yet, but it is set to release at some point during this year. While the crew behind the film is relatively inexperienced, it does seem that they are hungry to give this story the attention that it deserves.
The premise is certainly interesting, but I am still not expecting much from Soviet Sleep Experiment. So many inexpensive horror films are dumped out onto VOD every week, and while this film has more of a unique premise, it still likely won’t have the marketability to be a hit with audiences.
