Fans have been clamoring for some kind of footage or information when it comes to Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 finale. Finally, those prayers and demands were answered last week when the first official trailer for the film was released and viewed in record numbers. But, instead of satiating our appetites and answering questions, we’re all hungrier for more and have more questions without any real answers.
Well, in keeping in the Marvel tradition of revealing tidbits without actually giving anything away, they have released a new banner for the film.
Posted on all of the social media sites for the film, Marvel has released a newly colored banner of the film’s title. While this may seem mundane and not newsworthy, it’s the particular color scheme used that has peeked our interest. The title is mainly in purple, with golden accents and trim. This is, of course, reminiscent of the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. This helps ease some of the fan theories and speculation that we would get another Big Bad besides Thanos.
It doesn’t really make sense to introduce another villain in the final chapter of the MCU’s Phase 3, but that didn’t stop people from posting their own ideas. This color scheme should relieve some of that, and helps make it clear that Thanos has been the “endgame” (pun absolutely intended) as far as the final villain before the MCU moves into a new direction with Phase 4.
But, Marvel is also known for throwing out “fake news” from time to time to throw fans of their scent. So, could this be a blatant attempt from Marvel to pull people away from the possibility of a new villain. Hey, we did see Ronin (Hawkeye) fighting the Yakuza, and they are introducing Skrulls in the Captain Marvel movie, so maybe?
Who knows at this point? But we do know that we’re all excited for Avengers: Endgame to come out in April of 2019.
