Canadian film company Unstable Ground Productions have released their first trailer for their upcoming horror/thriller, Lifechanger.
A slightly different love story around the holidays than you may be used to – in the sense that this one is about a deadly shape-shifting entity named Drew who goes on a murdering spree all in the name of his love for Julia. So I’m guessing the break up wasn’t a good one?
The movie has already been screened at several film festivals over the course of the year including The Dead of Night Film Festival (Liverpool, UK) and Toronto After Dark Film Festival where it won Best Director and Best Practical Effects.
Dubbed as “a true cult classic in the making”, Lifechanger is written and directed by Justin McConnell who’s known for Broken Mile (2016), Minutes Past Midnight (2016) and Skull World (2013). The overall look of it feels rather low budget with the cast including Lora Burke as Julia, Jack Foley and Bill Oberst Jr.
Don’t worry, I wasn’t sure either.
Reviews for the movie aren’t great but I find that a lot within this genre even if the movie is pretty good. There’s a lot of pressure on scaring the audience rather than focusing on acting performances, script and cinematography. The film’s plot reads:
“A murderous shapeshifter sets out on a blood-soaked mission to make things right with the woman he loves.”
I do however appreciate the interesting film poster with the intriguing “It Becomes You” tagline and abstract artwork.
