It seems that every time we turn around, there’s another new fan theory about the upcoming, still untitled, Avengers 4. We’ve covered quite a few of them here, from the mundane and obvious to the completely out of left field and insane. But, recently, we’ve covered a few that put the Quantum Realm into a very important light, especially when it comes to saving those we lost in Infinity War. We learned of a possible Dark World connection as well as the consistent clues of the Realm’s importance. We’ve also covered little spoilers here and there, like certain characters making their return from the dead for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 finale.
We learned of Crossbones making a return in what is most likely a flashback, as well as a producer spoiling the return of the Ancient One. It is this spoiler, as well as the theories on the Quantum Realm, that gives this latest theory a whole lot of traction.
Comicbook.com delves back into the 2016 multidimensional masterpiece, Doctor Strange. During Strange’s eye opening trip through the multiverse at the hands of the Ancient One, she narrates his astral flight through the different realms, she makes a key statement as to the Quantum Realm, as Strange passes through it (it was the beautiful green and shiny realm he traveled through before entering the Dark Dimension, which was confirmed in the BTS clips in the Blu-Ray release).
She states that some dimensions are “benevolent and life giving”, while others are “filled with malice and hunger”. The second part obviously lends to the Dark Dimension, but it would seem that the first part of that statement was meant to describe the realm he was in at that time, which was the Quantum Realm.
This statement of potential foreshadowing lends a lot of credence to the other theories about the souls wiped out from the snap ending up in the Quantum Realm. We also know that the Quantum Realm plays a huge role in Avengers 4, so by being a kind of purgatory for these souls and the key to bringing them back makes sense. The “life giving” portion may be more of a “life saving” thing when in comes to this movie, saving the lives of all those dusted in Infinity War.
Fans everywhere are chomping at the bits to get some kind of concrete information when it comes to Avengers 4, whether it be a trailer or official synopsis or a statement from Marvel Studios. Until then, all we can do is speculate and create hypotheses based on all of the previous films over the last decade.
