One of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t even a hero. Loki has become a fan favorite during his tenure in the MCU, and actor Tom Hiddleston is truly adored. That is why the events of the blockbuster film, Avengers: Infinity War, were hard to swallow. Add to that Loki’s pension for faking his own death on multiple occasions, and fan theories have run amok on just how the God of Mischief survived Thanos’ vicious and brutal attack that culminated with crushing Loki’s neck.
Now, Hiddleston himself has been asked about these theories and Loki’s fate, and he offered all the information that he could during an appearance at the ACE Comic Con.
“Listen… I’ve heard some amazing theories about this. I was in a park in London a couple of weeks ago, and some guys came and said hi, and they asked me the same question. They said, ‘Hey, listen, we need an answer to this question. All the other times Loki’s died’ — there’s been a few — ‘he stabs with his right hand. And now he’s stabbing with his left hand.’ I was like, ‘That’s incredible attention to detail.’”
Not satisfied with this, his own co-star, Elizabeth Olsen, pressed for some more clarity on Loki’s fate. Hiddleston responded simply with,
“Your guess is as good as mine.”
It would seem that even the man who dons the golden horns doesn’t quite know what has come of Loki. But, if the theories of time travel in the still untitled Avengers 4 are true, there is a chance that Loki could also survive and live another day. Top that with the character receiving his own solo series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, and it’s seems all but certain that he will be resurrected in some capacity.
In the end, only time will tell, and all of our questions will be answered (hopefully) come May of 2019, when the finale of the MCU’s Phase 3 hits theaters.
