Netflix announced a while ago that they would be adapting the Sabrina Archie Comics series. This isn’t the first time Sabrina has been adapted for the screen but this version couldn’t be further from the first incarnation we have seen. The first time around it was a sitcom named Sabrina the Teenage Witch, aimed at children starring Mellisa Joan Hart as the title character. The new version of the show in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is much, much darker.

In the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina…
“This adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
Kiernan Shipka will play the lead, Sabrina Spellman. Jaz Sinclair will play the role of Rosalind Walker, Sabrina’s best friend at Baxter High. Ross Lynch will play Sabrina’s boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle. Michelle Gomez plays a teacher named Mary Wardell. Chance Perdomo has the role of Sabrina’s English warlock cousin, Ambrose Spellman. Lucy Davis is Hilda Spellman and Miranda Otto is Zelda Spellman, Sabrina’s two aunts. Richard Coyle is the High Priest of the Church of Night and Dean of the Academy of the Unseen Arts, Father Blackwood. Tati Gabrielle will play a student from the Academy of the Unseen arts, Prudence.
Lee Toland Krieger is executive producer and director. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is executive producer and writer. Also executive producing is Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions and Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics.
I think this teaser showcases the creepy new vibes for Sabrina perfectly. I can’t wait to see this show, especially because we haven’t had a good, occult orientated show since Salem.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina debuts on October 26.
