While documentaries are far from the most popular of films, Michael Moore has carved out a surprisingly fruitful career in the genre. Often molding together shocking humor with current day takes on politics, Moore has been one of the few documentarians to truly nail the balance between informing and entertaining his audience. With politics getting more and more hectic by the day, its no surprise that Moore is back with another political statement. Check out the trailer for his latest film Fahrenheit 11/9 below:
Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 11/9” is a provocative and comedic look at the times in which we live. It will explore the two most important questions of the Trump Era: How the f**k did we get here, and how the f**k do we get out? It’s the film to see before it’s too late.
While Moore hasn’t enjoyed much box office success recently, this film (which references a previous feature Fahrenheit 9/11, the highest grossing documentary of all time domestically) could be his big ticket back. Politics have played a much more significant role in entertainment today, both in content and how its analyze, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this film found a significant audience.
If this film does succeed, it will be one of several documentaries this year that have had a profitable run. Films like RBG, Wont You Be My Neighbor, and Three Identical Strangers have shown that documentaries can find an audience at multiplexes, it just has to be the kind of significant subject that audiences can invest in.
Fahrenheit 11/9 hits theaters September 21st.
