Today saw the release some ‘first look’ pics from Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first female heroine led solo film due out in March of 2019. Among the ten photos released, there is a particular one of a certain super spy during his younger, fully visioned days as a budding S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. Thanks to the first look, we get our first look at a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury – with both his eyes!
Now, as this film takes place in the 1990’s, Nick Fury has yet to reach the level of Director, but is rather a lowly desk jockey with the agency. He also has yet to encounter any superheroes of any kind, but this film could show the course that leads to his Avengers Initiative plan that ends up giving us Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The other thing to note from this photo is the obviously missing accessory that Fury is known for; his signature eye patch. This movie clearly takes place before whatever incident that leads to Fury’s eye injury. We may even see that actual incident in this flick that gives Fury his iconic look.
One more thing to talk about is the amazing de-aging effects at Marvel’s disposal. If you didn’t know Samuel L. Jackson before, you would swear he was in his mid to late 30’s by this picture. Even at the high resolution that this pic is in, you cannot tell at all that this is a CGI de-aging process, making the 69 year old actor seem nearly half his age. The highly prolific actor even took to his own Twitter account to acknowledge how awesome this tech is in the film.
Wow, this Marvel de-aging thing is doper than I thought!#twoeyedfury#captainmarvelmovie @ Hyde Park https://t.co/yGNEIhvdG6

It is going to be great to see a slightly more naive Fury having both of his eyes opened to a whole new world of super powered beings.
