James Wan‘s 2013 horror, The Conjuring, was the birth of a new cinematic universe. The latest installment, The Nun, is coming next month. So far we have four movies in the universe, The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle: Creation. In the run up to the release a video has been shared that reveals just exactly how and where The Nun fits in the timeline of The Conjuring cinematic universe. You can watch the video below:
So, The Nun is what started it all. We first see the character in 2016’s The Conjuring 2, but fans were instantly, very interested in the character. The Nun is portrayed by actress Bonnie Aarons. Acting alongside her is Demian Bichir as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet as local villager Frenchie, Charlotte Hope as Sister Victoria and Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana.
In The Nun…
“When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”
It will be interesting to see what happens, especially considering it’s taking the story in a fresh and new direction to what we are used to in the universe. The setting especially will shake things up, as well as the time in which it is set. From all the material shared from the movie thus far it looks like it is going to be a great success, and now we don’t have long to wait.
The Nun will be released on September 7, 2018.
