As soon as Disney acquired the rights to Marvel, people have been clamoring for theme park attractions of their favorite Avengers and more. Universal Studios has Marvel Island in their Islands of Adventure Theme Park, with exciting rides, great character meet and greets, and comic book shops. This wet the whistles of many a geek, and now they hunger for Disney to bring them a state of the art theme park world of the greatest film franchise on the planet in Marvel Land – obviously inspired by the MCU.
Well, according to some rumors over at the Disney Travel Blog from a reportedly very reliable source, the wait can soon become a countdown. After the closing of the It’s Tough To Be A Bug attraction earlier this year, the source states that it will be turned into Marvel Land, a campus like setting where Marvel’s best heroes can rub elbows with fans and share their technology and methods for saving the day.
It is said to boast two attractions, at least to start. The first will basically be converting the 3D family attraction that was the Bug film into a slightly more intense 3D experience involving Marvel’s best. Although no real info has been offered up on the second attraction, rumors are circulating that it could be a ride similar to the Tron Light Cycle Coaster at the Shanghai Disneyland Park.
In addition to the attractions, Marvel Land (although they can’t actually call it that, due to legal issues with Universal) will reportedly focus on entertainment value with plenty of character meet and greets that will take place in the central quad of the campus, and the two level performance center located in one of the two gift shops. The will also a microbrewery and dining experience to serve the public – as well as work as a go-thru for Marvel Land and the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.
The current plan is to open the attractions in 2020, so everyone needs to start planning some trips to California.
