Avengers 4 is the currently and annoyingly untitled second part to Avengers: Infinity War. Many have hoped that the title would have been revealed by now, but with Infinity War not even on Blu-ray yet, that was a bit of a reach. Kevin Feige recently revealed that you shouldn’t expect to see it any time soon, either.
While speaking to Collider, Feige said:
“That’ll be after the Captain Marvel teaser probably, announcing that title. It’ll be towards the end of the year with however we launch that film.”
It’s not exactly surprising, as Feige has even debunked one very popular rumored title last month in Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet, saying:
“That is definitely not what it is called. Definitely not called that.”
He added:
“When we announce the title I am not sure, but as I’ve probably said to you, it’s gotten completely blown out of proportion. It will just be a name and the reason to hold it back was to keep the attention on Infinity War. That backfired a little bit because now everyone thinks what’s the name of the next one gonna be? But it was really just to keep the focus [on Infinity War].”
The Russo Brothers have said similar things, and even teased the title:
“We do have a name for it, we’re just not announcing it… and I think we came to that name fairly early in the development process. It speaks to the heart of the story.”
There are plenty of rumors and theories out there regarding said title, but it doesn’t appear that we’ll be getting it any time soon. That is, of course, barring a leak – but Marvel seems to be pretty on top of things in that department, aside from the promo art that recently leaked for the film.
We’ll know everything for sure when Avengers 4 hits theaters everywhere on May 3rd, 2019.
