The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a stacked set of films coming out to end Phase 3 of their film universe, with Ant-Man and The Wasp coming out next week, followed by Captain Marvel and then the finale with the still yet-to-be-titled Avengers 4. These films help bring an end to the culmination of 10+ years of amazing filmmaking, and set the stage for Phase 4 and many years of films to come – and potentially, the Young Avengers.
While some is known about Phase 4 (like Spider-Man: Far From Home), Studio head, Kevin Feige, has tried to keep most of the news under wraps, so as not to overshadow the upcoming releases. However, in an interview with Heroic Hollywood, Feige may have planted some seeds as to the direction of the MCU moving forward, specifically about the possibility of the inclusion of said Young Avengers:
“Well…sure. And both of those you just mentioned we talked about for a long time and they went over to be successful TV shows. We’ve always been fans of Power Pack and figuring that out. And yes. So…where and when we would see the evolution of that? I don’t know. And certainly – taking our cue from the comics as we always do – that’s why we wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds.”
Could this hint mean that Cassie Lang plays a bigger part in the upcoming sequel than expected? As seen in one of the trailers, she does make note of wishing she could be a superhero, so is that the first seed in the garden of Young Avengers?
Also, a young Elijah Bradley (aka Patriot) was rumored to have been a possible addition to the Black Panther film, so whilst it is mostly conjecture at this point, Feige’s comments do seem to lend some credence to a Young Avengers inclusion in Phase 4.
