On of Stephen King’s scariest works, IT, first came to life on the small screen in 1990, but finally made the jump to the silver screen with last year’s monster hit adaptation. Now, IT: Chapter 2 will chronicle the second half of the story where the children of Derry have all grown up and dealt with the ramifications of the first film in their own various ways. But, another 27 years has passed since Pennywise’s last appearance, and the terror has come back to haunt them in horrific ways. Joining the cast as the adult Ben Hascom is Mary Kills People’s Jay Ryan for director Andy Mushcietti’s helmed project, due to begin filming in July, as reported by Deadline.
This casting helps round out the already announced cast of Jessica Chastain as the adult version of Beverly Marsh, James McAvoy as Ben Denbrough, Bill Hader as grown up Richie Tozier, James Ransone (of the Sinister franchise) as Eddie Kaspbrak, and Andy Bean (Here and Now) as the adult Stanley Uris. The script is being adapted by Gary Dauberman.
The sequel is set to arrive in September of 2019, as “The Losers Club” reunites as adults to deal with the return of Pennywise, the demon clown terror of Derry, ME. The 1990 TV miniseries was a huge success, and still holds merit today, but the film has brought the fear to a new level. The sequel is expected to bring even more horror to the big screen. So, make sure you pack your spare underwear next fall.
