There’s a Storm coming to John Wick 3! Actress Halle Berry has officially signed on to appear in the next chapter of the Keanu Reeves action trilogy. Rumored to be joining the film a month ago, no details have to be released about Berry’s character, other than she’s not expected to be the film’s main antagonist, according to THR.
Halle Berry is a tenured actor in Hollywood, having played in a variety of different genres, including the superhero realm as Storm in the X-Men films, the title character in the much aligned Catwoman movie. With roles in movies like Swordfish, Kingsmen 2 and the 007 pic, Die Another Day, she is no stranger to a John Wick-esque film, and can hopefully bring another veteran presence to an already stellar film franchise.
Also joining the cast are as follows:
Anjelica Huston as The Director, Asia Kate Dillon (Billions) as The Adjudicator of the High Table, Jason Mantzoukas (The League) as The Tick Tock Man, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D alum Mark Dacascos as an assassin named Zero. The film has also added martial arts star Tiger Hu Chen and The Raid actors Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman as characters who will square off against Reeves’ lethal avenger.
Chad Stahelski is returning to direct the (presumably) final chapter for Reeves’ titular assassin, working on a script that has had three different iterations of writers (Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, and the team of Chris Collins and Marc Abrams, respectively). Production has already begun.
Chapter 3 follows a now excommunicated John Wick with a rather large price on his head. Having broken the rules of the Continental by killing on the grounds, Wick is now truly on his own while the world’s best assassins look to capitalize on $14 million bounty, as well as the ultimate trophy of taking out the “Baba Yaga”. The film is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2019, bringing the signature Wick style of slick action to an already stacked summer of blockbusters.
