Ever since it was first announced, response to Solo: A Star Wars Story has been lukewarm at best. Early reactions out of Cannes last week were all reassuringly positive, but what about the only opinion that matters? That of everybody’s favorite old curmudgeon, Harrison Ford. Well thankfully, a new interview with current Solo, Alden Ehrenreich has revealed just what his predecessor thought of the upcoming spin-off.
At a recent press conference with the film’s cast and crew, Ehrenreich revealed that Ford did in fact enjoy the film, telling him during a recent interview that the latter decided to crash. It clearly had an impact on the Hail, Caesar actor as he revealed:
“It’s just such a huge deal to have him really genuinely enjoy the film.”
This isn’t the first time that the pair have met however, Ehrenreich recounted their first encounter when he sought out the veteran stars blessing. He explained:
“I met him in his airplane hanger with five airplanes surrounding us. And then we went out to lunch. He was awesome. He said ‘if anyone asks, tell them I told you anything you need to know and that you’re not allowed to say anything,’ which was good.”
Ford has always been one to speak his mind in regards to the long running science fiction franchise, so for him to give both Alden and the film his blessing, it definitely shows that we could be in for something special. Although at this point, I want to hear Billy Dee William’s thoughts on Donald Glover as the smooth talking Lando Calrissian just as bad.
You can check out what others thought of the film here, but if you prefer to form your own opinion, you can wait till the film hits theaters May 25th.
