Okay, this article is going to be pretty spoiler heavy so if you’re the one person who hasn’t seen Avengers: Infinity War, you may want to exit immediately.
For those of you who have seen the film will remember that in the film’s closing moments we saw the Mad Titan, Thanos finally make good on his promise to balance the universe and as such half of our beloved heroes began fading from existence before our eyes. Whilst we were shown how the heroes who were present in Wakanda and on Titan fared, we have no idea what the fate of many of the franchise’s supporting characters, well… besides Galaga guy of course.
In a recent interview with Huffington Post, the film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, revealed just what happened to some of our favorite characters after that fateful snap.
First off they were asked about Howard the Duck, the crazy critter first seen as part of The Collector’s collection on Knowhere and later chatting up some birds on Contraxia. Thankfully, Joe Russo revealed that he survived the snap.
After that, they were asked about Thor’s former flame, Jane Foster, last seen in Thor: The Dark World, although they explained that revealing her fate was ‘too spoilery’, potentially revealing a future return in Avengers 4.
Next up, came the actor who played Loki in the play in Thor: Ragnarok. You know, the one who was almost certainly Matt Damon kidnapped from Earth and forced to do bad theater on Asgard. Unfortunately it seems to be curtains for that poor actor (I’m wasted with wordplay like that) as Joe confirmed that he ‘did not survive‘.
Perhaps signalling their final departure from the franchise, the brothers both confirmed that Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross and Jamie Alexander’s Lady Sif are both now ‘Gone’, which should come as no surprise given that we haven’t seen Sif in the MCU since 2015 in an episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. and haven’t seen Betty since her debut appearance in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
Thankfully, Peter’s hot Aunt May was revealed to be alive, although she is well and truly on her own now with Parker being one of the unfortunate ones to disappear. Perhaps now is the time for that Aunt May spin-off film that Sony thought was such a good idea.
The duo were actually tight lipped about a few characters, simply revealing that knowing what happens would be ‘spoilers‘. These included, Peter’s friend Ned, everybody’s favorite Disney Princess, Shuri and the comedic duo of Korg and Miek who were last seen on the Asgardian refugee ship. They also revealed that Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia, who was last seen in Black Panther is ‘on missions’. Whatever that means…
Unfortunately, this is only a fraction of the characters who exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I mean, what about Selvig or Sharon Carter or that guy who said ‘Captain’s orders‘. I need to know, Russos!
So unless you’re a sadist who doesn’t care for spoilers you’ve probably already seen Avengers: Infinity War, but if not you can catch it in theaters now.
