Avengers: Infinity War is currently tearing up the worldwide Box Office, just a few days ago becoming the fastest film to join the Billion Dollar club, taking just 11 days to do so. We already know that Avengers 4 will be hitting our screens next year, but after that – we have no idea what’s in store for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. A recent interview, however, has revealed that there could in fact be more Avengers films.
The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger spoke of potential future films during an earnings call, and was reported as saying:
“Given the popularity of the characters and given the popularity of the franchise, I don’t think people should conclude there will never be another Avengers movie.”
As it stands, we have no idea what to expect from the MCU in Phase Four, outside of a third Guardians of the Galaxy film and a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, so for all we know, Avengers 4 may truly be the last we see of the team. This is especially true given that many of the original actors contracts are set to expire, at the very least we could be seeing a very different lineup somewhere down the line.
With the Avengers franchise currently a license to print money, Disney would be crazy not to keep it going down the line. The biggest question would be whether audiences would take to a new assortment of faces on the team.
In the meantime, you can catch Avengers: Infinity War in theaters now.
