*Update* The majority of this story has been removed at the request of Universal Studios. Some of it still remains as presented, but plot details for the Halloween movie have been taken down. The test screening appears to have featured a very rough cut of the film and shouldn’t be judged in the way that the final cut will be, which is apparently great, according to recent footage reactions.
I’ll tread very lightly with this next story regarding the new Halloween movie. Some outlets have reported on a recent test screening of the film, and have been forced to take their stories at the request of Blumhouse Studios (and we’ve edited out a lot of this article for that very same reason). For what, we’re not exactly sure, but we think it has something to do with them sharing plot details. For this story, we won’t do that. And for the record – John Carpenter has denied that there even was a test screening, but there was some very odd stuff pointing in the direction that a test screening did happen.
for those sharing the article saying fans at a test screening hated the new halloween, @TheHorrorMaster has spoken pic.twitter.com/LFpHwsf2Ku

The test screening was essentially (sort of?) confirmed here:
HORROR BLOGGING FRIENDS: Just got word Bloody Disgusting has also CONFIRMED the HALLOWEEN test-screening and will be reporting shortly. This is the only thing I can share publically in my defense. Don’t jump on the Crucify Josh Bandwagon! pic.twitter.com/G8PvE4O03e

And there were a few folks on Twitter talking about it as well:
FYI: if you see a certain site claiming that they have seen a test screening of the new Halloween movie it’s bogus. This journalist should be ashamed of himself as well as the site. John Carpenter has stated that no test screenings have occurred

Proof of a Halloween test screening! A copy of the survey they give out after the film. I wanted it solely to have then I call John Carpenter a genius but liar. This is proof it happened and I was there. Jason Blum even said he saw the first cut 2 weeks ago. But there’s no 1st? pic.twitter.com/7JubSmNjtB

You know what’s annoying AS FUCK! Is a friend seeing a test screening of the new #Halloween movie and spoiling it for me. ARE YOU KIDDING?! I wanted it to be a surprise. @blumhouse test screenings this early? #annoyed #Blumhouse

Someone who attended the Halloween test screening commented with:
“Cannot say anything because it’s a work-in-progress but I will admit it’s very much a Blumhouse movie (not the good kind)”
This pretty much confirms my suspicions.

One final comment on the Halloween test screening. For one thing, I’m totally confused. Last Night, John debunked it, while someone from Universal said it did screen and those people are under NDA. Our article will go back up, but this is the last we’ll be speaking on the matter.

HALLOWEEN, like all films, deserves to be seen before it’s judged. We haven’t even seen a trailer & now the conversation is dominated by one guy at a test screening who didn’t love what was likely an unfinished cut. Why does anyone even care to report or read that right now? 🙄

It’s a very strange story and perhaps we won’t ever know if the test screening happened or not. If we get any more news on it, we’ll be sure to bring it to you. Until then, enjoy this first look at Michael Myers that we were given last week.
The new Halloween movie hits theaters on October 19th.
