Avengers: Infinity War is about to be released, and some fans can’t help but wonder if better timing would have seen the X-Men a big part of it. While Disney has been methodically rounding up 20th Century Fox’s creative media, they don’t have everything just yet. This creates some limitations where the inclusion of rightful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is concerned. However, the question still remains; which X-Men characters would have made it into Avengers:Infinity War if Disney were allowed?
The Russo Brothers had an opportunity to answer that question, posed to them by GamesRadar. Of course, the conversation skirted the ongoing Fox situation to keep any legal ramifications at bay. Joe understood what was at the root of the question and added,
“Let’s open it up to favorite Marvel characters.”
At this point, Anthony stepped in with a popular opinion:
“It would probably be Wolverine.”
He follows suit after other people have stated they would have loved to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine side by side with the current Avengers.
It’s hard not to push the subject a little harder when you are interviewing people like the Russo Brothers, so GamesRadar pushed. They reminded the Russo’s about Disney and Fox’s merger deal, and what might possibly happen in the future regarding X-Men. Anthony evasively stated,
“Yeah, maybe one day…”
But the Joe interjects with something a little stronger.
“We could be close,” he says.
While that isn’t a definitive answer, it does make it seem like there is something more there than they are able to talk about.
The Russos have had to lay rumors to rest recently by letting fans know that the Silver Surfer isn’t owned by Disney yet, so it is impossible for him to show up in Avengers: Infinity War. Hopefully, we’ll soon see some of these rumors turn into fact in the coming year.
