The Russo Brothers have had their fun with Marvel fans, by not releasing spoilers, playing the distraction game and even telling us to fear the title for Avengers 4. So, it is no surprise that when questioned for more answers they give very grey area responses that could lead our fandom minds anywhere. With Infinity War hitting theaters in 10 days, I think it is safe to say, they will not be spoiling anything anytime soon.
In a recent interview, they gave a direct answer to the question if the title for Avengers 4 will be revealed in a post credit scene during Infinity War, but we cannot say for sure if they are misdirecting once again. However, it does help the story that Avengers 3 and 4 are two very different movies that intertwine.
“It’s going to be quite a long while before people see that title. We need people to see this movie, digest this movie, and then we can tell them what the next story is they’re going to see.” – Joe Russo
They also gave a good description of why the films are so different and how they connect.
“It’s serialised storytelling without question so there is going to be a correlation, narratively, but we really wanted to make two distinct movies. We weren’t interested in making one long film and getting out the scissors and cutting the scissors and cutting it in half.”
“We don’t find that a satisfying cinematic experience, so this is a complete story, that’s a complete story, and they’re very different movies.”
They were also asked about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will move into Phase 4 and the changes where Joe gave a very strong analogy linked to novels.
“I think massively different. I think that this is if Marvel has been writing a book for ten years, it’s the end of the book and someone is going to write a new book. Who knows what that new book will be but this is an ending and that’ll be a new beginning.”
Regardless of the movies differences, we have all the faith placed in the Russo Brothers and the MCU to bring us this amazing event they have been leading to for 10 years. We have loved and lost and now we are going to lose some more.
10 days away until its release, do you wish all the news would slow and give us time to adjust? What do you think of Avengers 3 and 4 being so different? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
