The third season of Starz’ series Ash vs. Evil Dead, based on Sam Raimi’s cult classic The Evil Dead and its sequels, has brought nothing but bad news for the franchise. While the episodes continue to be critical successes, the ratings are another story entirely. And, unfortunately for the show, they continue to spiral downward.
The latest episode reached a mere 136,000 viewers, the lowest number the series has ever seen. While this doesn’t quite signal the end for the series, it’s still a very important time to prove its worth. In fact, Bruce Campbell explained this during the New York Comic Con.
“They are moving us out of the fall so that we can compete and get the numbers they need,” Campbell expressed. “So, between now and then, go get the app and show them you want more Ash.”
If it doesn’t sound serious enough, Campbell really does his best to motivate fans into supporting the series.
“So go download the Starz app, binge the shows first two seasons,” Campbell encouraged. “I say this because I hear a lot of boo-hooing that people can’t afford Starz… give up your f-cking cars, you don’t need one in New York City. Give it up and go get the Starz app and watch the show.”
It makes sense, of course, because Ash vs Evil Dead being canceled would likely mark the end for the franchise. And that would be a travesty because it’s just now starting to reach new boundaries and potential.
If you want to show your support, be sure to watch the show. Ash vs. Evil Dead airs 9 PM EST on Sunday nights on STARZ.
