If you haven’t seen Jim Carrey in anything other than comedies, you are missing out. He played in The Number 23 in 2007 and, more recently, in Ana Lily Amirpour’s The Bad Batch. There was also Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in 2004. Not to worry, though. He is starring in a new thriller, Alexandros Avranas’ Dark Crimes, formerly called True Crimes.

It looks to be a very interesting turn for Jim Carrey, as he hasn’t acted much in quite a while.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“When police officer Tadek (Carrey) finds similarities between an unsolved murder and a crime outlined in a book by famed writer Krystov Kozlov, Tadek begins to track Kozlov and his girlfriend, a mysterious sex-club worker (Gainsbourg). As his obsession with Kozlov grows, Tadek descends into a deadly underworld of sex, lies, and corruption to find the shocking, deadly truth.”
The upcoming movie is directed by Alexandros Avranas, and is written by Jeremy Brock. Joining Jim Carrey in the cast is Agata Kulesza, Maton Csokas, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
