A Black Widow solo movie has been rumored and talked about for years now. It was only just recently confirmed to be in development, but as to when we will see it is anyone’s guess at this point. If a new rumor is to be believed, however, we should be getting the Scarlett Johansson lead film very soon – as in with the next couple of years. According to MCU Cosmic:
According to my source, the solo outing for Natasha is tentatively set as one of the MCU movies releasing in 2020. Marvel has set three movies for that year, and these are the dates: May 1, 2020, July 21, 2020, Nov. 6, 2020.
We already know that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is probably arriving in 2020. With that being one of Marvel’s big franchises now and with it possibly helping to launch the new cosmic side of the MCU, I wouldn’t be shocked if Marvel puts it in their May slot.
It’s an interesting report, and is also the same one that says we should expect an Eternals movie in Phase 4 of the MCU. We already know Kevin Feige has the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe mapped out really far, so this could be entirely plausible. As far as how exciting a Black Widow movie could be – I’m not entirely sure on that one. It is Marvel we’re talking about though, so whatever they do, I’m sure it’ll end up being great.
We’ll see Black Widow next in Avengers: Infinity War, which hits theaters on April 27th.
