A mysterious pic has appeared on Samuel L. Jackson‘s Instagram account. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has posted the photo of him getting a lifecast. The pic comes from the set of the upcoming film, Captain Marvel.
In the post he says “Caught a lil’ nap going thru the process”. Commenters have begun speculating that Nick Fury could perhaps be a Skrull.
The cast of Captain Marvel includes Brie Larson as the titular hero along with Jackson as a younger (and two-eyed) Nick Fury, Gemma Chan as Kree spy and geneticist, Minn-Erva, DeWanda Wise, Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law. The film is said to be a period piece for Marvel Studios and will take place in the early 1990’s with the Skrulls as the primary villains.
Directing the fiulm are Mississippi Grind’s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The script is written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (from the upcoming Tomb Raider and Gotham City Sirens), Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Periman (Guardians of the Galaxy). Kevin Feige is producing Captain Marvel and Marvel Studios’ Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz and Stan Lee are executive producers.
In the regular Marvel Comics continuity, Carol Danvers made her first appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes #13, published in 1968. She was a Security Chief in the US air force and would later be transformed into the superhero Ms. Marvel after an explosion that involved Kree technology. Recently, Danvers took on the identity of Captain Marvel after being “promoted” to the title of the former Kree superhero.
Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters on March 8 2019.
