Just when you thought every idea for the shark genre was made, it wasn’t. Tornados, the tundras, snow, ghost, zombie, fighting Jason Statham and even a return to Deep Blue Sea. The shark movies still prove to be dominant with the countless films in its line-up (and hey, maybe Suicide Squad would be more liked had they brought in King Shark), but nothing as close to home has hit as, well, House Shark.
This film definitely takes its inspiration from the classic that started the trend, Jaws. Taglines ripped straight from the film, billed as “Jaws in a house”, use of the original monologues, even has a character obviously played off as Robert Shaw’s iconic Quint from the original. Sort that in with some low quality effects and Z-list acting and you got the low-budget wonkiness that is House Shark.
The synopsis is as follows:
When Frank (Trey Harrison) finds his happy home under attack by a dangerous but largely unknown breed of shark, he’s enlists the aid of the world’s only “House Shark” Expert, Zachary (Michael Merchant), and a grizzled former real estate agent, Abraham (Wes Reid), to embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast and claim back his life. It’s JAWS in a house!

This independent film is actually run as an Indiegogo campaign so that physical copies of the film can be distributed for the collectors actually looking for those kind of films. They’re talking all sorts of goodies with poster memorabilia, stickers, the usual stored media with Blu-rays and DVDs and yes, even VHS copies. Higher perks guarantee spots to be involved in the production as a producer. With 1100% above its required goal and still going to March 4th for its deadline, the success is already guaranteed. You can support the release and become part of the film’s success, if you’re interested.
House Shark is set to be released this summer.
