Jordan Peele’s Get Out ended up becoming one of the biggest horror releases in 2017. As such, director Jordan Peele is constantly giving out more information about the movie – both in terms of production and what we can expect to see happen in the future. One such tidbit Peele revealed about Get Out is an alternate ending that would’ve closed the film with a very bleak final scene. But now Peele has unveiled another alternate ending that would’ve been completely different.
Peele explained the ending to THR, and unlike the first alternate ending, he never had a chance to film this one.
“There was a while where it was more of a gated community, and we get to Chris breaking out, but right before he breaks out he meets some sort of final test that we don’t know how it ends.”
Peele added:
“We cut to Rod a couple months later, breaking into the gated community, going down the main street and seeing Chris just looking into the reflection of a window. And he goes, ‘Chris, I’ve been looking for you. Are you okay?’ And Chris turns to him and goes, ‘I assure you, I don’t know who you’re talking about.'”
It certainly sounds like it would’ve been a much more subtle ending in the vein of Invasion of the Body Snatchers or The Stepford Wives. And, honestly, maybe that’s the kind of ending we need to see more of in the genre. Something thought provoking.
In the film…
Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
