Many fans have been wondering how a Venom movie will work without Spider-Man, as it’s obviously a key character for Venom. Some of these worries were put to rest when it was rumored that Tom Holland was going to be making an appearance in the movie, but that hasn’t yet been confirmed and contradicts what Kevin Feige said about it being set outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When the first trailer for Venom was released earlier this month, it put even more worry into most fans, as it didn’t even look like it had anything to do with Venom – aside from the symbiote visible in one shot. Apparently, that scene has to do with Peter Parker‘s involvement in the film as well, according to a new rumor.
Screen Rant is reporting that they’ve spoke to a source close to the film’s production, who revealed:
Please know that this is in no way confirmation of a Peter Parker appearance in Venom, only speculation based on one scene in particular that we know was filmed.
We have heard from a source with knowledge of the production that a scene was filmed inside the Atlanta building which doubled as the Life Foundation featured Riz Ahmed’s character, Carlton Drake, leading a field trip. While our source did not see or have knowledge of Tom Holland being on set that day, it is worth noting that the filming took place on private property, making it very difficult for anyone outside of the cast and crew to have access to the set to capture pictures or video.
How all of this will actually play out is anyone’s guess. Sony is incredibly unpredictable in what they do – though that’s not necessarily a good thing. Here’s hoping the Venom movie will end up being good, and not a disappointment – and that we actually get some good films out of this Spider-Man Universe they have planned.
Venom hits theaters on October 5th.
