Season 2 of Marvel’s The Punisher is already on the mind of a lot of Marvel fans following the highly successful and entertaining first season. While we’re not entirely sure what’s next for Frank Castle, the show’s star, Jon Bernthal, has an idea of who he’d like to see the iconic character go up against in the next season.
Speaking in a recent interview for The Walking Dead, Bernthal revealed:
“Barracuda. I’d like to see Barracuda. I’d really like to get back in with [Vincent] D’Onofrio, with Kingpin. I mean, there’s so many twisted characters. But you know, I’m really eager to see… ah, sh*t, I’m gonna get in trouble. Let’s just see what happens, man. Let’s just see what happens.”
He’s not the first person associated with the show to mention Barracuda, as Showrunner Steve Lightfoot mentioned the character back in November, saying:
“I haven’t even thought about Season 2…but one of the villains I love is Barracuda. I think he’s great fun. I also really like O’Brien. I thought she was always really cool. Certainly those two jump out at me initially, but there are so many great characters there. It’s a very fun sandbox to play in.”
As far as Kingpin, we’ll see him next on Daredevil Season 3. Actor Vincent D’onofrio says it’ll be a different version of the character than we’re used to seeing:
“I’ve shot some pretty cool scenes, so far. It’s different, but it’s very Fisk. It’s still very emotional. The character is evolving. His whole deal is based on emotion, so we’re taking him down that role further. There are new focuses and new goals. That’s all I can say. If it was up to me, I would go on and on and on about it because it’s so interesting, but it’s so important to them, for us to keep our mouths shut.”
Who knows? We could end up seeing Frank on the upcoming season of Marvel’s Daredevil. As far as Season 2 of The Punisher, however, expect to see it on Netflix sometime in 2019.
