The 1960’s sci-fi series Lost in Space is coming back to a modern audience, and Netflix has us covered with visuals in the form of pictures and trailers, and yes, even a release date!
The series follows the Robinson family as they are selected to make a new life for themselves in a colonized space 30 years in the future. However, they are tangled away from their route and, much lsike the title revolves around, are strayed from the path and must survive the new world of a dangerous alien environment, forging friendships along the way. Two outsiders are also involved who end up through odd circumstances: the charismatic but disconcerting Dr. Smith who plays his hand with deception and an unknown goal, and the mischievous but charming Don West who works as a blue collar contractor who wants his way out from the planet.

The series will star Parker Posey as Dr. Smith (Superman Returns, Blade: Trinity, Scream 3), Ignacio Serricchio as Don West (Bones), Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson, Toby Stephens as John Robinson, Max Jenkins as Will Robinson, Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson and Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson. It’s interesting to note that unlike previous adaptations with Johnathon Harris with the 60s series and Gary Oldman with the 1998 film, Dr. Smith will actually be played by a female.
Funny enough, NASA themselves have had the opportunity to witness the pilot episode in full at their International Space Station. The worldwide release will be April 13th, 2018.
In the meantime, the trailer is available for viewing below.
