Last month finally gave us our first glimpse of Brie Larson in costume as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the film of the same name. The thing that surprised most fans was that her suit wasn’t actually the classic red suit that we have come to know since she took on the Captain Marvel mantle, instead it was actually a green variation on the same suit. However Marvel Overlord Kevin Fiege has gone on to reassure fans that not all is as it seems in a recent interview. Read on to find out more.
Fiege recently took part in an interview with Vulture where he discussed the recent pictures of Brie in costume on the Captain Marvel set in California and some fans negative reaction to the characters new look. He told the site
“If you want to film out in public — and Captain Marvel has a lot of scenes that will be shot on location — it’s gonna happen. Everything is filmed nowadays, so years ago, we decided, ‘If it’s gonna happen, let it happen.’ Most people are savvy enough to know they’re looking at a behind-the-scenes photo, completely out of context. So we don’t do things like rush photos.”
He is true that fans may be looking a little too deep into something that is taken out of context, but that is generally what the internet community does. He does go on to hint that some of the theories floating around may actually be close to the truth whilst also referring to the fact that concept art featuring Larson in the classic red suit was revealed at last year’s San Diego Comic Con. He goes on to add.
“We released some concept art of her with different colors, People online have correctly identified what’s going on there.”
The theories that he is referencing is likely that she in some early form of her costume, possibly a lower rank in the Kree Army before she gets made a Captain. Hopefully we will find out more information in the near future including a definitive look at Danvers’ final costume. At the very least it should teach us not to jump to conclusions when it comes to costumes and set pictures, I’m sure we all remember those first set pictures of Black Panther’s costume in Captain America: Civil War….
We can check out Brie kicking some Skrull ass when Captain Marvel hits theatres 6th March 2019.
