Alright folks, time to strap on those tin-foil hats because it’s time to talk about everyone’s favourite conspiracy. No! Not the race of lizard people who are actually controlling the world’s government. The other one. The conspiracy that Disney are secretly paying critics to make sure that Rotten Tomatoes always gives them “fresh” ratings – whilst simultaneously giving the DCEU “rotten” ones. Yeah, that one. Apparently one group believes in this enough to go to great lengths to make sure the upcoming Black Panther doesn’t get the same treatment.
Based on the early reactions from Monday night’s Black Panther premiere, Marvel have another hit on their hands, with it already being hailed as one of the ‘MCU’s Best Ever‘, so it’s likely that the Fresh Rating is just around the corner. This has angered one group of, let’s say ‘Passionate‘ fans who are looking to organise a sabotage of the film’s Audience Score.
The group have numbers apparently ranging in the thousands looking to take part – and have also used the similar tactic as the one used with last year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi which saw a low audience score of 48%.
You can read the group’s mission statement below.
Given the massive success of the audience review rigging on the Rotten Tomatoes site for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and due to the sudden rise in those disgruntled with Disney business practices among other factors especially due to the corporate manipulations which created falsified bad press for the DCEU, I feel that it’s time to strike back at all those under Disney and bring down the house of mouse’s actions for paying off the critics that hurt DC Comics on film and for other parties affected by them.
Rotten Tomatoes has released a statement on the matter, saying:
“We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and we take that responsibility seriously. While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.”
It’s a real sad state of affairs that it has come to this – especially since it deeply effects the hard work of all those who worked on the film to make it great. It’s also sad that Fanboys are now so delusional that they would rather believe in this ridiculous conspiracy than just accept that DCEU films – aren’t actually that good.
Sure they have some great performances and moments, but overall they are pretty disappointing and this coming from a guy with a Batman collection. The reason that Marvel and Disney recieve all this acclaim is that they honestly deserve it.
The Marvel films are well-crafted and thoroughly enjoyable. It’s just a shame that these ridiculous fanboy wars have got to this point.
It’s more than likely that Black Panther will receive the coveted “fresh” rating when the reviews do finally hit in the coming weeks, but hopefully, this negativity won’t affect the film’s overall performance at the Box Office – especially since it’s a historical film in regards to it’s cultural significance.
We will see how all this plays out when Black Panther hits theatres February 16th.
What do you think? Do you agree with these idiots? Are you excited for Black Panther? Let us know below!
*No. Disney is not paying me to write this, but y’know, if they want to throw a few sheckles my way, I would be more than grateful.
