Back in October, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo received a swift tap on the knuckles after he inadvertently leaked the opening fifteen minutes of Thor: Ragnarok through a live stream on his Instagram page at the film’s premiere. Now that seems like nothing at all compared to the latest blunder that has befallen the Marvel Cinematic Universe three-quel, with the whole film now being leaked online a month earlier than its intended release. Read on to find out more.
The error occurred when a customer went to pre-order the film on Vudu and was offered the option to download it to his iTunes account as part of their ‘Movies Anywhere’ option. This is currently being credited as a ‘Miscommunication’ but it has unfortunately led to the film finding its way onto torrenting sites all over the web.
A report from TorrentFreak showed one user’s comments, in which they said:
“I pre-ordered Thor Ragnarok on Vudu yesterday and it links it to my iTunes also. But curiously it showed up in my iTunes library this morning (pre-orders shouldn’t). And now I can watch the full movie in HD. I obviously downloaded it right away. I know its supposed to come out February 20th.”
There has currently been no official comment from either Disney or Marvel, but they will undoubtedly be none to please at the two companies for this blunder. Especially since it is over a month before it’s official release and will no doubt harm the home media sales of the film.
For those of us who are law abiding, you can pick up Thor: Ragnarok when it’s legally released March 6th physically and February 20th on demand.
