There’s been a lot of secrecy regarding the upcoming Venom movie, especially with its plot and characters. But several new behind the scenes photos may have revealed just who actor Riz Ahmed is set to play.
Once Ahmed was announced to be part of the film’s cast, many fans instantly speculated that he’d be playing Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage. This rumor was debunked, and fans still have no idea who could be playing the iconic villain (Woody Harrelson?). But Ahmed’s role may have finally been revealed.
According to Atlanta Filming, who recently posted the behind the scenes photos, Ahmed will be playing none other than Dr. Carlton Drake.

In the Lethal Protector comics series, Drake was a major villain who led the Life Foundation. This was a group of scientists who wanted to steal Venom’s power and somehow replicate it, creating five new symbiotes in the process. It’ll be interesting to see the type of role the character plays in the film.
While none of the symbiotes turn out to be Carnage in the comics, the story could’ve been changed as a way to introduce the character. After all, the movie already wrote out Spider-Man who was a major part of Venom’s origin, so who knows what else they’ll end up changing? The only way to find out is once the film comes out next year, and we’ll finally get to see who’s playing Carnage by then too.
Venom hits theaters October 5, 2018.
