There was quite a lot to take in with the release of the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War and quite a few things people missed at first glance. We got an exciting look at the Avengers in action against some new terrifying villains and fans were shook by the long awaited appearance of Thanos in action.
But are so excited to see him fight that few of us ask: why? Of course, the power that comes with the Infinity stones should be reason enough, there could be another reason behind the Mad Titan’s actions.
In the trailer, Thanos states:
“Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe.”
But just what kind of balance is Thanos referring to?
The answer may lie in Thanos’ first appearance way back in The Avengers movie. In the mid-credit scene, the Other earns Thanos that to “challenge [humans] is to court death”. Rather than be concerned, Thanos simply smiles at this. Because perhaps courting Death is exactly his intention.
Fans of the comics will know that Thanos collected the stones in an attempt to impress Mistress Death, whom he is infatuated with. To try and please her he wiped out half of all life in the Marvel Universe.
Could this be the same motive for the MCU? If they do choose this route for Infinity War, it will certainly add another element to Thanos and it would be awesome to see Death on the big screen.
In the film…
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters May 4, 2018.
