After years of being a fan-favorite for readers of Marvel comics, female clone of Wolverine Laura Kinney aka X-23 was recently brought to the big screen in 2017’s Logan. While the comics seem intent on replacing Logan with Laura, some fans are suspecting the same could happen on the big screen, with a spin-off film said to be in the early stages of development.
One fan decidedly cooked up some concept art to fit their suspicions. The drawing comes from Masaolab on DeviantART, and puts actress Dafne Keen in a costume fit for any young Wolverine.
Love this edit of Dafne Keen as #AllNewWolverine. I hope we get to see her in costume someday. (Art by masaolab) @DafneKeen @TomTaylorMade pic.twitter.com/CGFsUjeZw7

It certainly fits in with what Logan director James Mangold previously said about a Laura Kinney spin-off being produced:
“I’m realistic about the kind of movie this is, and I’m hopeful that various people in those positions will see it and recognize it — even though it is an R-rated movie, and even though it has a legacy as part of a comic book franchise. I’d love for people to be able to assess the craft on the performances and the work on their own merits.”
While it’s unclear what the future holds for FOX’s use of Wolverine in their films, there’s still plenty of X-Men movies in the works. Maybe Laura might pop up in one of those sooner or later.
In Logan…
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X, somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan’s attempts to hide from the world, and his legacy, are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.
