Yesterday it was reported that Fox and Disney were involved in talks for a potential deal that would give Disney ownership over the majority of 21st Century Fox. It was then reported that talks are dead for now, but could resume at a later date. It has a number of people interested, including Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.
The deal is interesting for a number of reasons, but one thing that is really interesting, would be how it’d effect the Marvel Cinematic Universe. X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool would all be owned by Disney, and with the company’s reluctance to make R-Rated movies, some are probably wondering how it would effect Deadpool.
Ryan Reynolds sent out a tweet yesterday on a potential deal, asking:
“If this is true, I wonder how the fudge it would affect Deadpool?”

Disney probably wouldn’t simply reboot Deadpool, as it made a ton of money and was praised by critics and fans alike. Though, you can’t really make a Deadpool movie and not have it R-Rated. I mean, you could but the results would not be good. After all, we saw what happened the last time Deadpool was in a PG-13 movie, didn’t we? X-Men Origins: Wolverine, anyone?
Reynolds himself has entertained the idea in the past, imagining a war of words between Deadpool and Iron Man:
“Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great. But it would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them go…”
If anything, it’d be cool to have Deadpool in an Avengers movie and break the fourth-wall regarding the film’s PG-13 rating. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on a potential deal as it develops.
