There’s fewer things that clash better together than horror and metal; and the band Slipknot is one that recognizes the potential of said combination. One YouTuber named Adetue also realized the potential of mixing horror with metal, and decidedly performed a cover of Slipknot’s ‘The Devil In I’ while dressed as Pennywise from the latest adaptation of IT.
The video also boasts several other nods to IT, such as a baby dressed up as Georgie from the film, yellow raincoat and all. It’s cute but also a little saddening once you remember Georgie’s fate from the film.
It’s definitely a performance that’s going to attract quite a bit of attention – just as the film adaptation itself is doing. In fact it’s the highest-grossing horror film ever made, having grossed over $500 million worldwide so far.
Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Warner Bros., even had this to say about the film’s success:
“Crossing $500 million is rarified air for any film, but for a horror film it is history-making, and we could not be prouder. The filmmakers and cast did more than make a box office hit; they created a communal, must-see moviegoing event that has reverberated around the globe and is still going strong. We congratulate Andy Muschietti, the extraordinary producing team, and everyone involved in ‘It’ on reaching this amazing milestone.”
The film starts as a group of young kids face their biggest fears when they seek answers to the disappearance of children in their hometown of Derry, Maine. They square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
IT is currently playing in theaters everywhere, with IT: Chapter Two set to be released on September 6th, 2019.
