This year’s IT movie adaptation has been a massive success critically and at the Box Office. Fans everywhere are talking about the movie. Naturally, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that someone has drawn up what it would look like as Anime – and the results are great!
The artwork comes from Mike Anderson:
Bill Skarsgård’s performance as Pennywise the Clown is being praised, and it’s no surprise given how seriously the actor took the role:
“In order for this movie to be as effective as the book and the series, I have to scare a whole generation. My take was that Pennywise functions very simply. Nothing much is going on in terms of what he’s thinking — he’s animalistic and instinctive.”
He added:
“It’s funny. I went back to Stockholm after we wrapped, and every night for two weeks, I had these strange recurring Pennywise dreams. I was him, but I was in the wrong setting, somehow. I was upset that people could see my face. It was surreal. I can’t explain it.”
He’s also said that there’s no reason to compare his portrayal to Tim Curry’s:
“It was always important for me to reinvent It and reinterpret It in a different way. I sort of grew up with the Tim performance and I was very familiar with it and a huge fan as an actor, so my process of preparing for the role was, “okay this needs to be different” and I think we did that, I think this Pennywise is different and they can stand alone – there’s no need to compare them as you can appreciate both but it was important to me to do something new and something original with the take on the character.”
IT is currently playing in theaters everywhere.
