Although the found footage genre has its fair share of haters, there is one film that seems to have appealed to most horror fans if not just for Mark Duplass’ eerie performance as Josef. The film is entitled Creep, and it’s getting a sequel, Creep 2, which will release this October that will once again star Mark Duplass with Patrick Brice returning in the director’s chair.
The trailer below shows that they’re aiming to make a film that’s just as stunningly bizarre and uncomfortable.
“Creep 2 stars Desiree Akhavan as Sara, a video artist whose primary focus is creating intimacy with lonely men. After finding an ad online for “video work” she thinks she may have found the subject of her dreams. She drives to a remote house in the forest and meets a man (Duplass) claiming to be a serial killer. Unable to resist the chance to create a truly shocking piece of art, she agrees to spend the day with him, but discovers she may have dug herself a hole from which she cannot escape.”
The original Creep was released in 2015 and quickly gathered a cult following. Interestingly enough, the film even earned positive critical reviews, a major feat for a low-budget found footage movie. And it’s no wonder why – Duplass’ experience really is something to be discomforted by and certainly makes you wonder about some of the strangers you could meet on the Internet or elsewhere.
Creep 2 will be available on digital platforms on October 24.
