One of the most anticipated movies for The DCEU is The Batman. Though it’s gotten off to a slow start with a few delays, a new rumor suggests that the film could begin production rather soon.
Umberto Gonzalez recently had a Periscope session in which he revealed that the film would start production if “if everything falls into place”.
Ben Affleck will still be Batman as far as we know, as Affleck praised director Matt Reeves back in July:
“Trying to do that, and direct, would probably be too much. Something would be compromised. I think it came off, optically, to the broader world, like lack of interest or enthusiasm. When in fact I love this character. I think getting Matt Reeves to come in and do it is really, really exciting. Matt hasn’t really unveiled his full vision yet. He wanted to wait until Apes came out, and he was obviously consumed with that. So I’m looking forward to hearing what his story is.”
Reeves has revealed he wants to focus on a more personal side of the character:
“For me, what’s always important is to try and find a personal way in. In that way, I do feel like I relate to actors. It’s about understanding emotionally, the way something is. I see this parallel between Caesar and Batman, really, which is this idea of these characters who are grappling with their own struggle and trying to do the right thing in an imperfect world and, so, I do really relate it to that kind of idea.”
We can also expect to see a noir driven film:
“There’s a chance to do an almost noir driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”
We’ll see Batman next in Justice League when it hits theaters this November.
